The business meeting was conducted by John Tucker, Vice President.  He noted that the elections held in November resulted in the following:  John Tucker – President, Gordon Lineau – Vice President, Bill Bair – Treasurer and Ernie Kuhn Secretary.  The AAW has been notified of the results. In addition the chapter information form has also been updated and sent to AAW.

John noted that Tom Stoll and John Clarke had some medical problems; cards were passed around for everyone to sign so we can send them to Tom and John.

A discussion was held on future programs

January

“Selected Short Subjects”:  (a) Wipe on Finishes, (b) Using Super Glue, (c) Jam Chucking, and (d) Shop Tips.

I (JJ) have made a presentation to the Wood Carving club on item (a) so that would be easy.  Ron Gerton uses a lot of super glue and maybe he could do a short segment on that.  I have some things I could prepare on (c).  Maybe we could get a couple of people for (d).

February

Ask Don Gangl to do a demo with the rose-engine lathe and also tips on buffing your turnings.

March

Have panel (Ron Gerton, Don Gangl, and Bob Cutler) discussion on how to market your work.

April or May

Make Frisbees and have a contest for best design and for the one that goes the farthest distance.

Molly Winton???

Other Ideas

How to cut trees for different patterns of grain.

Hands-on tool sharpening.

Making flutes on your turnings (John Barany).

Making natural edge bowls (Gordon Lineau).

Gordon Lineau showed some natural bowls that he recently made, as well as a travel mug.  Jerry Johnson showed a vessel made from a local maple tree.  Ron Gerton showed three exquisite bowls made by Bill Luce.  All were from Monkey Puzzle wood.
