Meeting Minutes for Saturday, June 9, 2007

The meeting was held at John Tucker's shop in Kennewick, WA.

Special thanks to John's wife, who most graciously provided a sumptuous variety of snacks that absolutely covered the entire serving table.  There was no excuse for anyone to leave the meeting, hungry.

President Dave Pellicer called the meeting to order at 1:10pm.

Treasurer's report:   $1,530 in checking; $79 in petty cash.

Old Business: The Greenwood sealer pump is working again (Ted Walters) with 15 to 20 gallons left.

The AAW Symposium at the end of June, in Portland was again mentioned.  Show of hands for those attending indicated several members will be there.

New Business:  Jerry Johnson passed around the club member lathe survey for updating.  List is available to members as a resource either for those contemplating the purchase of a new lathe or in the event of questions regarding a specific lathe.

A printed membership list with contact information was made available.

One member solicited information regarding recommendations for the purchase of an 18" bandsaw for around $1,500.  There were several responses.

Show and Tell:   Several members brought items for Show & Tell:

Scott Trumbo, President of Serious Toolworks (www.serioustoolworks.com), Tualatin, Oregon was this month's demonstrator.  Scott brought an extensive array of the woodturning tools they manufacture.  Featured is a cam-lock tool handle that accepts (with a variety of collets) various turning tools.  Included were their scrapers which are unique in that their scrapers have straight-shank, rounded ends that also fit into the cam-lock handles. Scott demonstrated the use of their knurling/texturing tools.  The knurling tool has a sliding, locking presentation angle plate that rests on the tool rest and is used to provide a consistent pattern angle.  See below:
