Mid Columbia Woodturner’s
Meeting Minutes July 22, 2006
Meeting called to order
Phil reported on silver maple tree available to the club. Show of hands show 10 members were interested in harvesting it. There was a discussion as to whether it would make a good club project. Harvest would most likely be done in October.
We also discusses that we would need a great deal of wood sealer for this project.
Denise reminded us of the next meeting to be held at John Nichols place on the Columbia River.
A sheet was passed around for members to sign up. All were reminded to bring a dish.
John Nichols will provide the ribs at club expense. Members are welcome to bring guests.
There was discussion about the September meeting of possibly a demo about duck calls
October meeting will be Jim Christianson from Idaho
Denise encouraged us to use the clubs website as much as possible
Ernie gave us a report on how much the faceplates will cost for our club project.
Show and Tell:
Jeff showed us an apricot bowl he turned that cracked and how he enhanced (saved) it by carving out the cracks. Very nice!

Ron Gerton showed a large spalted maple bowl that had the voids, bark inclusions and rot filled with lots and lots of epoxy.
