New Booklet from OTI Member, Joshua Salesin
Vaccum Kiln Drying for Woodworkers
As wood turners and as ornamental turnes, we know that dry wood is critical to good results. Many of us will air dry our wood to get dry wood, others of us will buy lumber expecting it to be dry and finding out that it's not! So, how do we guarantee that our wood is dry and ready for putting onto your OT lathe or Rose Engine.
The answer to this question was offered at the last 2006 OT Symposium in Portsmouth by Joshua Salesin. His talk about vacuum kiln drying was well received and he continues to get questions on how to do it.
To best present this information in a format that is useful and can be retained, he's created a 62-page booklet and is making it available for purchase online.

Woodturning Embellishments with Laminated Acrylic by Ed Davidson
(Part 1 deals with generic lathe turning embellishments and part 2 takes the same piece of wood from the traditional lathe to the Lindow-White rose engine for further embellishment. This video is intended to compliment the recent article by Jon Magill called "Cutting Through the Layers", published in the Summer 2008 AW Journal.)
Make Your Own Rose Engine
OTI's own Jon Magill recently released a full set of plans on making your own Rose Engine. The initial release of these plans were made public in the AAW publication, American Woodturner.
