Board Election Results (11/05/08)

Ballots for three new AAW Board members have been cast, counted and the results are in. Congratulations to Dale Larson, Binh Pho and Cassandra Speier, who will join your AAW Board of Directors effective January 1, 2009. Our sincerest thanks go to all those who have volunteered their time and efforts to support our organization. Without your support, the AAW would not exist.

Fall 2008 Forum Contest (10/20/08)

sphereThe Fall 2008 AAW Forum woodturning contest results are in. Congratulations to "Truffuls", the first place contest winner. This was the 15th turning contest held on the AAW forums, patterned after the "Leaf Extraordinaire" article shown on page 40 of the Fall 2008 (Vol 23 No 3) edition of American Woodturner. The contests winners are:

1st place: Truffuls’ leaf
2nd place: Bernie Hrytzak’s butterfly
3rd place: Dreher’s giraffe

New Online Feature for Members (6/28/08)

We now have an online searchable database of selected past American Woodturner Journal issues and articles, available to AAW members. The intent is to make available, free of charge, archived articles that might be of particular interest to new and novice turners. To access these files, log onto the members Only area and read the introduction note on the main Members Page.

Description: The Ebony Pedestal and Finial are fashioned after Robin Costelle's work. This piece measures 2-1/2" dia. x 11-3/4" tall. Finished with antique oil and buffed. The lid does have a slight dome to it. Click here for a closer view.

Glaser Commemorative Gouges

In celebration of the AAW's 20th anniversary, the AAW is offering two limited-edition bowl gouges made from the finest materials on the market today, including hand selected Cocobolo handle wood. These tools are being manufactured exclusively for the AAW. They will be numbered 1 through 500, with the first 5 gouges reserved for AAW auctions at the next 5 annual symposiums.
